Mask Force Williamsburg has made and delivered over 1,300 masks for first responders, nursing homes, social workers and other helpers in our community. But there’s a huge need for more masks, especially for disadvantaged people in our community.
Can you help?
- Can you trace and cut cotton jersey masks?
- Do you have sewing skills and a sewing machine?
Mask Force Williamsburg was started in April by WJCC Dems board members Christine Payne and MK Sizemore. MK prepares kits with all the materials needed. Laura Tripp coordinates doorstep dropoff of mask kits and pickup of finished masks, and helps prep materials for mask kits. Christine sanitizes finished masks and delivers them to recipients. Mike Hatfield reaches out to recipient groups and coordinates mask requests. Over 50 volunteers have helped sew or cut out masks.
It’s becoming clearer day by day how important good masks are in preventing the spread of COVID-19. Know of a group in need of masks? Want to help us make more masks? Help us make Williamsburg a safer place. Email us or call Christine Payne at (757) 784-6397.
